CSF-PathwaysDid you know that your central nervous system lives in a bath of powerful fluid called Cerebral Spinal Fluid or CSF?  That’s right, your brain, brain stem and spinal cord are wrapped in fascia (inner skin) that is filled with fluid that brings nourishment and removes toxins.   Yoga breathing practices are designed to increase the cycling of this fluid and shift the pressure within the system.   Our Pineal Gland lives in the center of our brain and can be positively affected by breathing and meditation.  Using Pranayama (breathing techniques) and Bandhas (core activation) the Pineal Gland is stimulated to create powerful metabolites that move us into alpha and gamma brain waves (deep visionary states).   Breath and Meditation Workshop Sign up

SeatedMeditationKimAt its core, yoga is a practice of reclaiming our birthright as great creators.  It is not enough to practice asana.  Without shifting our outwardly focused mind and shallow short breathing, we will not receive the powerful transformative gifts of yoga.  When the mind is constantly working to manage our outer environment (high beta brain waves) our sympathetic nervous system is activated; we are dealing with survival issues.  Nothing wrong with this, but if it is not balanced by withdrawing from the outer spin and turning inward, we weaken our immune system and we miss the power of focusing our minds on dreams, higher purpose, and soul growth.  Pranayama and Meditation are the foundation of self-knowledge and a life that unfolds our soul’s purpose rather than just surviving until its over.
